CAA-licensed aerial photography and 4K videography — Cambridge and Cambridgeshire from above, legally and beautifully
CAA Licensed
Drone photography transforms how a subject is seen. The English country house estate looks commanding from above. The Cambridge colleges reveal their hidden courtyards and roofscapes. The running event shows its true scale. The wedding venue sits in its landscape context in a way ground-level photography simply cannot communicate.
I hold the CAA Operational Authorisation required for commercial drone operations in the UK. Every flight is conducted under a pre-planned safety assessment, with full liability insurance and complete airspace compliance. Drone photography available as a standalone commission or as an add-on to any existing photography package.

Applications
A single aerial perspective transforms how a wedding venue, its grounds, and the surrounding landscape appear. Aerial ceremony photography, drone portraits with rolling English countryside, sweeping estate shots — spectacular additions to any wedding gallery.
Aerial imagery for estate agents, property developers, and architects. External drone coverage captures the property, its grounds, its relationship to the surrounding area, and the approach — transforming property listings and marketing materials.
Architects, contractors, and developers commission drone photography for planning applications, progress documentation, completed project portfolios, and marketing. Cambridge has outstanding contemporary and historic architecture worth documenting aerially.
The Cambridge skyline — King's College Chapel, the Wren Library, the Backs from above — is extraordinary from the air. Landscape and tourism aerial photography for publications, tourism bodies, and Cambridge-based organisations.
Large outdoor events — summer festivals, charity events, outdoor exhibitions, garden parties — filmed and photographed aerially to capture scale, atmosphere, and the full visual context of the event environment.
Cinematic 4K drone video for weddings, property marketing, corporate films, and documentary projects. Smooth, professional aerial footage to complement ground-level photography and videography.

Questions
Yes. To fly a drone commercially in the UK — including for photography — operators are legally required to hold a CAA Operational Authorisation (formerly known as a Permission for Commercial Operation, or PfCO). I hold the appropriate CAA authorisation and fly under the current UK Drone and Model Aircraft Code. My drone operations are fully insured with specialist UAV liability insurance for commercial operations.
Cambridge city centre is within a Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ) due to its proximity to Cambridge Airport (EGSC). Flights within this zone require prior authorisation from the airport. In some cases this can be obtained through a Direct Authorisation Request; in others it may not be possible. I deal with these assessments and applications as part of every commission — I will tell you in advance exactly what is feasible and what is not, rather than discovering restrictions on the day.
I fly a professional-grade drone with a camera capable of 48MP stills and 4K/60fps video. Images are sharp, colour-accurate, and delivered in full resolution for print and commercial use. Footage is delivered in ProRes or H.264 depending on your requirements.
Before every commission, I check current airspace restrictions using official CAA tools (NATS Drone Assist and AirMap). I identify any Restriction of Flying Areas, Danger Areas, or temporary restrictions relevant to the location and date, and obtain the appropriate authorisations before the shoot date. I never fly illegally, and I never cut corners on airspace compliance.
Yes — drone photography and videography is available as an add-on to any of my wedding packages. The Aerial Add-On is designed exactly for this. Drone footage of a wedding venue at golden hour, aerial portraits with an estate or water backdrop, a wide shot of the ceremony in the grounds — these additions transform a wedding gallery.
Wind above approximately 28 mph (the threshold varies slightly by drone model), heavy rain, poor visibility (below 500m), and very low cloud cover all prevent safe drone operations. I monitor forecasts closely and, where a commission has marginal weather conditions, we discuss alternatives in advance. For static subjects (property, architecture), rescheduling is usually straightforward. For events and weddings with fixed dates, I offer partial refunds or credit if weather prevents flying.
