How I keep your baby safe — the practices, training and principles behind every newborn session.

Newborn photography safety is my absolute first priority — above aesthetics, above poses, above any particular image. Every decision during a newborn session is made with the baby's physical safety and comfort as the primary consideration.
Some poses seen in newborn photography look simple but involve composite techniques — multiple images combined in editing to produce a result that would not be safe to achieve in a single shot. I use these compositing techniques where appropriate and will always explain to parents what I'm doing and why.
This page explains my safety practices, what parents can expect during sessions, and some of the specific techniques I use to ensure every baby leaves exactly as they arrived — just slightly more photographed.
I have completed formal newborn safety training covering safe posing, composite techniques, temperature regulation, session timing and the specific vulnerabilities of babies in the first 14 days of life.
A parent or guardian is always present during sessions. I encourage parents to trust their instincts — if something doesn't look comfortable to them, we adjust. Their judgment matters.
Certain poses (the 'froggy' pose, the 'womb' pose and other complex positions) are only achieved safely through compositing — multiple shots combined in post-production. I am transparent about when and how I do this.
Naked newborns cool quickly. Sessions are conducted in a warm room and I use a space heater positioned safely near the shooting area. Sessions pause whenever a baby needs to feed, settle or be held.
If a baby resists a position, we move on. Some positions simply aren't possible with some babies — that is entirely normal and no attempt is made to force any pose.
I carry full professional liability insurance specific to newborn photography. Details available on request.
