The most romantic city in the world, photographed with documentary care — every grand avenue, hidden courtyard and golden hour on the Seine captured as it truly felt.
Paris earns its reputation. The Haussmann boulevards, the pale stone of the quais, the green bookstalls along the Seine, the light that falls at a particular angle through the parks in October — the city has been the background for love stories for three centuries, and it still delivers completely. For a destination wedding, it offers a depth of beauty that very few places can match: a ceremony at the mairie, a reception in a private hôtel particulier garden, and portraits at golden hour beneath the Eiffel Tower.
I travel to Paris regularly for destination weddings and elopements, working with UK couples who want photography that feels genuinely Parisian — not posed in front of tourist landmarks, but alive and atmospheric in the city's most beautiful spaces. I know Paris well enough to suggest the shot that most photographers miss: the early morning light on Île de la Cité, the way the Eiffel Tower looks from the Trocadéro gardens at dusk, the hidden courtyards of the Marais that most visitors never see.
My style in Paris is editorial and documentary — I work quietly beside you, letting the city be itself and capturing you within it. The formal portraits are elegant and intentional; the rest is real life in one of the world's greatest cities. Together, the collection tells the full story of your day in Paris.
From the grandeur of Versailles to a private courtyard in the Marais — Paris has a setting for every mood.
7th Arrondissement
The Eiffel Tower is the world's most recognised backdrop — and it is extraordinary at the right times of day. The Trocadéro gardens offer the classic full-tower view; the Champ-de-Mars gives space and green; the Pont d'Iéna provides the Seine in the frame. I know each position, and I know when the light falls perfectly on the tower and the river — creating portraits that are iconic and genuinely romantic rather than simply touristy.
The Historic Heart of Paris
The Marais is the most beautiful quarter of Paris for wedding photography: narrow medieval streets, 17th-century hôtels particuliers with their hidden courtyards, the Place des Vosges with its symmetrical arcades, and the Sainte-Chapelle on the Île de la Cité — a Gothic chapel of floor-to-ceiling stained glass that floods the interior with coloured light. Couples who want the real bones of old Paris choose the Marais.
The Grand Garden Backdrop
The formal gardens of Versailles — the Grand Canal, the parterres, the orangery — are a short train journey from Paris and open a completely different register of grandeur. The baroque geometry of the gardens, the fountains, the long perspectives of the allées: these photographs have an eighteenth-century European elegance. Civil ceremonies cannot take place at Versailles itself, but the gardens are a powerful location for portrait sessions.
Paris's Royal Parks
The Jardin des Tuileries stretches from the Louvre to the Place de la Concorde — a formal French garden with gravel paths, ponds and iron chairs that is one of the most classic Parisian settings. The Jardin du Luxembourg in Saint-Germain is slightly more intimate: the octagonal basin, the Medici Fountain, the plane trees. Both gardens are perfect for the relaxed strolling portraits that feel most naturally Parisian.
The Village Above the City
Montmartre sits on the hill above northern Paris, crowned by the white dome of the Sacré-Cœur. The neighbourhood below it — Place du Tertre, the vineyard of Montmartre, the narrow rues of the 18th — is the most village-like in Paris, with wine bars and small galleries and the feeling of a city from another era. For couples who want something less formal, Montmartre offers genuine character and extraordinary views back over the city.
The Parisian Wedding Formality
Legal weddings for non-French residents held in Paris take place at the local mairie — the town hall of whichever arrondissement you register in. Each mairie has its own character, from the ornate Second Empire grandeur of the 4th arrondissement to the elegant neoclassical 8th. I photograph the mairie ceremony with full documentary care: the formality of the ritual, the signing of the register, the moment you step back into the Paris street as a married couple.

Destination experience, Paris location knowledge, and documentary instinct that captures the city authentically.
I know Paris beyond the tourist circuit — the hidden courtyards, the perfect bridges, the garden light at different hours and seasons. Every location recommendation I make is based on what will make your photographs extraordinary, not just what appears in every Paris shoot.
I work alongside your Paris wedding day as a quiet observer — capturing the laughter at the mairie, the walk along the quai, the dinner in the hôtel particulier. The photographs feel lived-in and true because they are.
Paris is less than two and a half hours from London by Eurostar — closer than many UK wedding venues. I treat Paris weddings with the same logistical ease as UK weddings, and I always budget adequate travel time to ensure nothing is rushed.
Legal weddings in Paris for non-French residents involve specific paperwork and mairie registration processes. I understand these timelines and how they affect the day's structure, and I work with your coordinator and the mairie to ensure the photography coverage flows without interruption.
The last hour before sunset in Paris is transformative — pale stone turns amber, the Seine catches the sky, and the Eiffel Tower begins to glow. I plan the portrait session specifically around this window and know exactly where to be at each moment.
Paris weddings deserve images with warmth, depth and a quiet elegance — not over-processed HDR or harsh editing. My editing style is natural and film-influenced: creamy tones, rich shadows and colours true to what Paris actually looks like in the best light.
Yes — France allows non-resident foreign nationals to marry legally at a Paris mairie, subject to completing the required paperwork in advance (typically 40 days or more before the wedding date). You will need to provide certified documents including birth certificates, proof of identity and proof of domicile. A local wedding coordinator or lawyer can help manage the process. Alternatively, many couples arrange the legal signing in the UK and hold a symbolic ceremony in Paris.
Late April through June is beautiful — the chestnuts are in blossom, the light is long and clear, and the city has a particular spring energy. September and October are perhaps even better for photography: the summer tourists thin, the light turns golden and warm, and the plane trees in the parks begin to colour. December, for couples brave enough, can be spectacular — grey skies that create beautiful even wrap-around light, and the streets decorated for Christmas.
I cover all of Paris — from the classic Right Bank locations like the Eiffel Tower and the Marais, to the Left Bank parks and Saint-Germain, to Montmartre in the north. I am also happy to travel further into the Île-de-France region for venues at Versailles, Fontainebleau or in the Champagne countryside. Distance within Paris is managed by taxi, Uber and the excellent Paris metro.
Absolutely. If you are planning a multi-day celebration across Paris and nearby regions — a ceremony in the Champagne vineyards one day, a Seine boat reception the next — I can build a multi-day package to cover all of it. Please describe your full plans when you enquire and I can provide a custom quote.
For Paris, the summer months of June through September book out quickly — I would recommend enquiring at least 12 months in advance for peak dates. Spring and autumn dates have more flexibility. The earlier you reach out, the more options we will have for both coverage structure and any additional pre-wedding portrait sessions.
Tell me about your Paris wedding — the venue, the date, the feeling you want to capture. I'd love to discuss how we can document your day in the world's most romantic city.
