Natural family portraits, wedding photography, and headshots — relaxed sessions in Cottenham village and the North Cambridge countryside.
Book a SessionCottenham is a Cambridgeshire village five miles north of Cambridge, straddling the edge of the fen landscape that gives this part of the county its distinctive character. The village has a strong community identity, a fine medieval church, a country park, and the open fenland stretching north — a landscape that, when you're in it at golden hour, is one of the most quietly dramatic in England.
I'm a Cambridge-based photographer covering the entire North Cambridgeshire belt — Cottenham, Histon, Impington, Willingham, Longstanton, Oakington, Bar Hill, and the villages along the A14 corridor north of Cambridge. Family portrait sessions, wedding photography, newborn sessions, and professional headshots: all within my standard coverage area with no additional travel charges.
Cottenham is particularly well suited to family portrait sessions. The Country Park has variety without commitment to distance — you can be in a woodland-edged clearing one minute and open grassland the next. And when you want something with more edge — the wide fenland sky to the north, Cambridge's college architecture to the south — both are easily combined into a single session.

Cottenham is approximately 5 miles north of Cambridge city centre — about 15–20 minutes by car. It's fully within my standard Cambridge and Cambridgeshire coverage area and I travel to Cottenham without any additional charge for portrait sessions, weddings, or headshots.
Cottenham Country Park is my first recommendation for family portrait sessions — varied environments including woodland, open grass, and water in a relaxed village park setting. The village green and church are perfect for a more classic English village backdrop. And just to the north, the fen edge countryside opens out into some of the most atmospheric open-sky landscapes near Cambridge.
Yes — St Peter & St Paul Church in Cottenham is a lovely English parish church for wedding photography. I cover church ceremonies across North Cambridgeshire and am happy to discuss your specific requirements and date availability.
Absolutely — many families and couples in the Cottenham area enjoy starting a portrait session locally in the village or at the Country Park, then driving 20 minutes south for golden-hour portraits with the college architecture as a backdrop. This combination works beautifully and I'm happy to plan sessions this way.
Spring (April–May) for blossom and soft green light, late summer (July–August) for wildflower meadows, and autumn (October) for the incredible golden hedge and tree colours of the Cambridgeshire countryside. But honestly — every season produces something beautiful when you know how to work with the light, and winter portraits have an understated elegance of their own.
