Individual portrait sessions in Bath — the Royal Crescent, Pulteney Bridge, Prior Park, and the finest Georgian architecture in England as your backdrop.
Bath Portrait Photography
Bath is the finest-looking city in England — the UNESCO World Heritage Georgian townscape, the Bath stone that turns deeper amber through the afternoon, the formal parks and riverside walks that provide a portrait setting of consistent architectural quality in every direction. Portrait photographs made here carry the beauty of the city into the image with no effort required of the photographer or the subject.
Sessions are relaxed and natural — walking through the city, pausing in the right light, and making images that reflect who you actually are in one of the most beautiful places in England.

Locations
Royal Crescent & The Circus
The architectural centrepiece of Georgian Bath — the curved sweep of the Royal Crescent across its wide grass lawn, and The Circus nearby with its plane trees and curved Georgian facades. Warm afternoon light catches the Bath stone with particular intensity from 3pm westwards.
Pulteney Bridge & Great Pulteney Street
The Palladian Pulteney Bridge across the Avon — one of only four bridges in the world with shops lining both sides — and the formal Georgian boulevard of Great Pulteney Street behind it. Outstanding for portraits combining architecture and water.
Prior Park Landscape Garden (NT)
The National Trust pleasure grounds above Bath — 18th-century landscape garden with the Palladian Bridge (one of only four in the world), cascading ponds, and views down to the city. Exceptional for portraits wanting historic parkland rather than townscape.
Sydney Gardens & Bathwick
Bath's historic pleasure gardens — the neoclassical hedgerows, the canal bridges, the quiet paths — a more intimate setting than the famous streets, with strong architectural character and quietness.
Bath Abbey & City Centre
The medieval Abbey in the ancient Roman baths complex — perpendicular Gothic architecture, the cross-shaped interior, the Abbey's west front, and the wide pedestrianised square around it. Strong architectural backdrops in all directions.
Beechen Cliff & Widcombe
The limestone cliff and open hillside above the southern city — panoramic views across Bath from a natural setting, the Victorian terraces below, and the full Georgian city spread. A completely different register from the town-centre locations.
Bath is one of the finest portrait cities in the world
The UNESCO World Heritage Site status is well-earned — every street in central Bath offers a backdrop of Georgian architectural quality unavailable anywhere else in England. Portrait photographs made here carry the character of the city into the image naturally.
The Bath stone turns gold
The oolitic limestone Bath stone absorbs afternoon light and re-radiates it warm — from about 2pm through golden hour in summer, the city turns a progressively deeper amber. Portrait sessions planned for late afternoon in Bath produce images of a different order to morning shoots.
A portrait session needs no special occasion
Updated portraits for professional use, personal milestone photography, creative headshots, artist portraits — a Bath portrait session is commissioned by people in the city and by visitors who want something particular from the finest-looking city in England.
Documentary rather than studio
Sessions are made in the actual city, in actual light — not in a studio with backdrops and flash. The results reflect the real person, in a real place, in a way that studio work rarely achieves for natural subjects.
Individual personal portraits, professional profile photographs, creative and artistic commissions, author and speaker portraits, journalist headshots, and milestone photography. If you're looking for corporate headshots for team use, the headshots page is more suitable.
Yes — Prior Park is a National Trust property and standard admission applies (free for NT members). It's well worth the admission for the Palladian Bridge and the landscape garden setting.
Absolutely — many portrait commissions in Bath come from visitors who want to mark a period in the city with photographs that reflect the place genuinely. A 1-hour session fits well within a two-day city visit.
Yes — Bradford on Avon (15 minutes from Bath), Lacock (30 minutes), and the wider Somerset and Wiltshire countryside are all available as alternative settings or additions to a Bath portrait session.
Approximately 120 miles — within my regular South West coverage. A travel supplement applies for distances over 60 miles and is included in your personalised quote.
