Documentary wedding photography in one of the world's most magnificent buildings — the Great Court, the Wren Library, and the banks of the River Cam.
About Trinity College
Trinity College, Cambridge — founded by Henry VIII in 1546 — is one of the great buildings of England. The Great Court is the largest enclosed courtyard of any college in Oxford or Cambridge. The Wren Library, designed by Christopher Wren in 1676, is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture. The river-facing lawns of The Backs are some of the most beautiful informal spaces in the country.
For couples with a connection to Trinity, the opportunity to celebrate a wedding or formal occasion in this setting is extraordinary. As a Cambridge-based photographer with deep familiarity with the college and its spaces, I bring both the technical skill and the contextual knowledge to photograph Trinity weddings at their full magnificent potential.
My approach is documentary and sensitive — I work within the college's protocols with respect for the academic environment, and I create photographs that carry the full weight of place: the extraordinary architecture, the centuries of history, and the human warmth of your wedding day.
Photography Locations
I know Trinity College intimately and understand the photographic opportunities in every space, at every time of day and season.
The largest enclosed courtyard of any college in Oxford or Cambridge — a cathedral of golden stone with the central Renaissance fountain, the chapel and hall porches, and the famous Great Gate. Morning light from the east illuminates the fountain and the chapel tower with extraordinary warmth. The Great Court is, quite simply, one of the finest photography settings in England.
Christopher Wren's masterpiece library on the river Cam is one of the most beautiful interiors in the UK. The carved lime wood bookcases and busts, the manuscripts and rare books, and the perfect classical proportions create a setting of extraordinary elegance. Wedding portraits in the Wren Library are among the most beautiful images I create at any venue.
The long cloistered court between the Hall and the Wren Library — elegant, formal, and full of golden stone in afternoon light. The arcade provides covered areas for portraits in rain, while the open court offers classic Cambridge collegiate architecture at its finest.
Trinity Chapel is one of Cambridge's most beautiful ecclesiastical spaces — the painted ceiling, the carved woodwork, the memorials to famous Trinity alumni. Ceremony photography here requires sensitivity and restraint, and I bring both.
The lawns behind Trinity running down to the River Cam offer some of Cambridge's most celebrated views — the Bridge of Sighs at St John's visible to the north, the willows trailing in the water, the Wren Library reflected in the river. Punting portraits on the Cam are unforgettable.
Trinity's great dining hall — a magnificent long room with high windows, a minstrels' gallery, and portraits of monarchs and alumni across the walls. Wedding breakfasts in the Hall are among the most extraordinary dining experiences Cambridge offers.

Questions
Trinity College does host some weddings and formal celebrations for members of the college — alumni, academic staff, and those with a qualifying connection to the college. The college's specific policies regarding weddings and private events can be discussed directly with the college's Events department. I recommend contacting the college directly regarding eligibility and availability.
Trinity College is simply one of the greatest buildings in England. Founded by Henry VIII, with alumni including Newton, Byron, and Tennyson, the college has an extraordinary architectural grandeur — the Great Court alone is larger than any courtyard in Oxford, and Wren's Library is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture. For couples with a connection to Trinity, it is an incomparable setting.
Yes — I am Cambridge-based and thoroughly familiar with the college, its spaces, its light at different times of day, and the specific conditions that photographers work within. I know which gardens and areas are accessible at different times, where the best light falls in the Great Court and in the Wren Library, and I have experience navigating the college's protocols for photography.
I photograph weddings and events at Cambridge colleges throughout the year, including King's College (under the Chapel), St John's College (the New Court and Bridge of Sighs), Christ's College, Pembroke College, Queens' College (the Mathematical Bridge), and others. Each college has its own character and photographic opportunities, and I am familiar with all of them.
Cambridge colleges have specific access policies for photography. During certain times of the year, limited access is available to visitors and alumni for photography sessions. I can advise on the best approach for couple portrait sessions at Trinity and other Cambridge colleges, and can help arrange access where appropriate for alumni and current members.
I photograph extensively throughout Cambridge and Cambridgeshire — at Ely Cathedral, Madingley Hall, Anstey Hall, King's College Chapel, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cherry Hinton Hall, the Botanic Garden, and many other extraordinary venues. Please see my wider Cambridge wedding photography page for the full scope of my local experience.
