Wedding Photographer Cornwall — Coastal Estates, Sea Cliff Ceremonies and Celtic Church Weddings
Cornwall is the most geographically remote county in England and, for many couples, one of the most compelling wedding destinations on the planet. Its long Atlantic coastline — more than 400 miles of cliff path, cove and estuary — combines with a deeply Celtic cultural identity, a vernacular granite architecture unlike anywhere further east, and a concentration of historic country house and coastal estate wedding venues that is unmatched west of Devon. As a Cornwall wedding photographer, I cover the entire county from the Isles of Scilly to the Tamar, including the far west around Land’s End, the Lizard Peninsula, the Falmouth estuary, the Fowey valley, Bodmin Moor and the north Cornish coast from Padstow to Bude.
Cornwall’s Iconic Wedding Venues
Cornwall’s historic wedding venues range from the medieval castle and sub-tropical gardens of Caerhays above Gorran Haven to the National Trust properties of Cotehele and Lanhydrock, from the Elizabethan manor of Trelowarren on the Lizard to the restored Minack Theatre on the cliff above Porthcurno. The Rosevine on the Roseland, Boconnoc in the Fowey valley and the Nare Hotel above Carne Beach represent a different tier of coastal country house venue that pairs spectacular scenery with exceptional hospitality. The privately-owned Cornish estate venues accessible through private hire, and the growing number of Cornish farm and tithe barn conversions across the county, provide a range of scale and character from the intimate to the grand.
Celtic Churches, Clifftop Ceremonies and the Cornish Landscape
Cornwall’s ancient Celtic Christian churches — many with round towers, Cornish slate roofs and graveyards of extraordinary historical depth — provide ceremony settings unlike any Anglican church in England further east. The Church of St Senara at Zennor, St Just-in-Roseland with its sub-tropical churchyard above the Fal estuary, St Ia’s Churchyard at St Ives above the harbour — all provide outdoor and indoor photography of intense character. For outdoor clifftop ceremonies, the West Penwith coast above Zennor, Treen Cliff at Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre site above Porthcurno beach (the most dramatic outdoor theatre setting in England) are all available with appropriate permissions for informal or licensed ceremonies. I advise on permissions, access and the best seasonal timing for each location.
