Choosing the right wedding venue is one of the most important decisions of your planning journey — and as a photographer who has worked across hundreds of venues throughout the UK, I've developed a genuine understanding of what makes a venue photograph beautifully.
This guide covers my favourite venue types and locations — and for venues where I've photographed before, I share specific tips about the best spots, lighting at different times of day, and what to build into your timeline.
If you have a venue in mind and would like my thoughts on photographing there, or if you're still searching and would like recommendations in your area, please get in touch.
Madingley Hall, Anstey Hall, Eltisley Manor, Barrington Hall — stunning country houses with beautiful grounds. Cambridge city venues include the Cambridge Corn Exchange and historic colleges.
Kew Gardens, Chelsea Old Town Hall, Syon Park, Natural History Museum — London offers unmatched variety from grand civic spaces to intimate private gardens.
Loseley Park, Great Fosters, Painshill Park, The Orangery — Surrey and Kent offer some of England's most beautiful country house and garden venues.
Rivervale Barn, Highcliffe Castle, beautiful New Forest properties and the Thames Valley offer tremendous variety for outdoor and country weddings.
Fountains Abbey, Bolton Priory, historic city venues in York and Harrogate — northern England offers deeply romantic settings with dramatic landscapes.
Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and the Sussex coast offer incredibly atmospheric venues. I also photograph destination weddings in Scotland and Europe.
