Cambridge Pet Photography
Pets are family. For most of us, the relationship with our dogs, cats and other animals is one of the most uncomplicated loves in our lives — and it passes too quickly. Professional pet photography captures their personality, their presence, the way they move and the way they interact with the people who love them. These are the images that matter years later.
I photograph dogs and other pets across Cambridge and Cambridgeshire — at their favourite parks, on their usual walks, in their home environments. My approach is patient and animal-led: no forcing, no stress, no studio intimidation. Just good light, a relaxed pet, and the natural moments that only come from spending unhurried time in places your animal already loves.

Locations
Cambridge's best dog-walking park — lakes, woodland, meadow, and off-lead areas that allow pets to run freely. Beautiful light over the water at golden hour.
The river meadows south of Cambridge are among the most photogenic walking areas in the county — pastoral, quiet and beautifully lit in morning and evening light.
Ancient woodland, chalk downland and a great off-lead environment on the Gog Magog Hills south-east of Cambridge. Seasonal wildflowers and woodland light.
Central Cambridge's riverside greens — convenient, open, and often quieter in early mornings. The riverside willows and punting backdrop make for distinctive Cambridge pet portraits.
The National Trust parkland and working farm at Wimpole offer extraordinary open landscape and woodland for pet portrait sessions — including the resident rare breed farm animals.
Wherever you regularly walk your dog in Cambridge or Cambridgeshire — I will come to the location your pet already knows and loves for the most natural and relaxed session possible.
How It Works
Pets are most relaxed and natural in places they already know and love. A familiar Cambridge park produces far better portraits than an unfamiliar studio environment.
Bring your pet's favourite treats to help with attention and to reward cooperation. High-value treats they don't usually get at home work particularly well during sessions.
Some of the best pet photographs come from movement — running, jumping, swimming. Bring a ball or favourite toy and we will capture your pet mid-action, which often shows their personality better than posed portraits.
Cooler temperatures, fewer other dogs, and beautiful golden early morning light make morning sessions ideal — especially for energetic breeds that need to burn energy before settling for calmer portrait moments.
Multi-pet households photograph beautifully — the interaction between pets, and between pets and their owners, produces genuinely heartwarming images. Allow extra time for multi-pet bookings.
I photograph dogs of all breeds (from Chihuahuas to Great Danes), cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses and other pets. Animal experience and patience is core to how I work.

FAQ
Not at all. I work entirely with the pet's natural behaviour — action shots of running and playing, natural curiosity, and moments of calm that happen organically. I never expect pets to perform static poses and won't make your session stressful by trying to force them.
Milton Country Park is my most-used location — large, off-lead areas, beautiful lake light, and varied environments. Grantchester Meadows gives a more pastoral feel. Wandlebury is excellent for woodland shots. And your own favourite daily walk often produces the best results because your dog is already relaxed there.
Yes — cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other indoor pets are photographed at home in their natural environment, where they are most relaxed and expressive. Home sessions work much better than outdoor sessions for most cats.
Some exercise before the session helps most active breeds settle for portrait moments. Bring high-value treats, their favourite toy, and anyone who they listen to well. Avoid bathing them immediately before the session — natural coat condition photographs better than freshly-washed fluffiness.
The Pet & Family package is specifically designed for this. Family portraits with pets are among the most meaningful and often most laughed-over photographs in any family collection — the honesty of how pets actually interact with their people is captured far better in natural outdoor sessions than in posed studio environments.
