Most people who book their first brand photography session aren't entirely sure what will happen. Here's a detailed walkthrough of a full-day brand session — from call time to gallery delivery — so you can arrive prepared rather than anxious.
One to two weeks before the session, you'll typically have a call with your photographer to review your shot list, confirm locations, discuss outfit choices, and go through your mood board. This is where questions are asked and expectations are calibrated. The more specific this conversation, the more directed the session will be on the day. Arrive with answers to: what platforms do these images need to work for, what is the tone of each location, and which images are highest priority if time is short.
The first 30 minutes are spent settling in — location check, gear setup, and conversation to relax. Nobody looks good in the first five minutes of being photographed. A good photographer uses this time to get you comfortable before any serious shooting begins.
The primary set-up, usually the most important: your workspace, your main portrait background, or the shoot's anchor location. First outfit, first set of images. The shot list is worked through methodically.
Travel to the second location or change to the second outfit in the same space. This is built into the plan — it's not wasted time.
A different set-up, different energy. Outdoor if the first was indoor, lifestyle if the first was formal. More relaxed by this point — usually the most natural-looking images come in the second half of a session.
A final check of the shot list. Anything missed is captured here. Some photographers do a quick review on-camera to confirm key shots are covered before wrapping.
Editing typically takes 2 to 3 weeks. You'll receive a private online gallery with full-resolution downloads. Most photographers deliver 80 to 150 edited images from a full-day session. A selection window or image culling process may happen in advance — where you favourite your preferred images from a larger contact sheet — before full editing begins.
