If you want physical products from your session, ask about pricing before booking rather than assuming the session fee covers everything. A £300 family portrait session that includes only digital files is a very different proposition to one that includes a printed album.
Why not to choose purely on price
Portrait sessions produce images that you will likely keep and display for a long time. Choosing a photographer primarily because they are the cheapest option on your shortlist typically produces one of two outcomes: images that look affordable, or the discovery mid-session that the cost saving came with limitations in skill, experience, or equipment.
A better filter is value: does the portfolio at this price point consistently produce images you would want? Does the photographer seem to understand what you are looking for? Are there reviews from clients whose situation is similar to yours?
