Yorkshire is one of the genuinely great photography counties in England — diverse in its landscapes, dramatic in its light, and surprisingly accessible even for destination sessions from further south. From the limestone valleys of the Dales to the heather moorland of the North York Moors to the sea-cliff drama of the coastline, the county offers something that flatland England simply cannot.
A Yorkshire engagement session is especially rewarding if you already have a relationship with this landscape — if it is where you live, where you walk, or where you first fell in love with England's countryside. That existing connection comes through in photographs in ways that no amount of perfect lighting can replicate.

Valley of Desolation & Bolton Abbey
The most romantic name in the Dales delivers on its promise — a wooded gorge, waterfalls, and the dramatic ruins of Bolton Priory above the River Wharfe. Exceptional in any season.
Brimham Rocks
Extraordinary millstone grit formations rising from the moorland above Nidderdale — natural sculptures that create surreal and distinctive backdrops unlike anything else in England.
Whitby Abbey Clifftops
The harbour, 199 steps, and the ruined abbey on the cliff above the North Sea. One of England's great atmospheric locations — even more powerful at dawn or dusk.
Aysgarth Falls
Three tiers of broad limestone falls on the River Ure in Wensleydale — the setting used in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is even more dramatic in person, surrounded by ancient woodland.
Harewood House & Grounds
A great Capability Brown landscape in the Wharfe valley — parkland, ornamental lake, and the house itself (exterior). Accessible, extensive, and endlessly varied.
Yorkshire Dales Limestone Pavements
Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are among the most dramatic landscapes in Britain at any scale. The pavement above the cove, with its clint-and-grike formations, is otherworldly.

Do you travel to Yorkshire for engagement sessions?+
Yes — I cover Yorkshire as a destination session. My base is Cambridge, so Yorkshire is typically 2–3 hours drive. Sessions are arranged at your preferred location anywhere in the county, with travel costs discussed at booking for locations beyond Leeds and York.
When does Yorkshire look its best for photography?+
Almost any time, honestly — each season has a distinct character. May is stunning for the wooded valleys and bluebells. August for the heather on the Moors. October for autumn colour in Wharfedale. Winter for frost and drama on the high fells. I'll advise based on your preferred aesthetic.
Can we split the session across two locations?+
Yes, where the locations are within reasonable driving distance of each other. Bolton Abbey to Brimham Rocks, for example, is under 30 minutes — perfect for a varied session. Extended sessions (3 hours) are available if you want significant variety.
What does the session include?+
Sessions run 1.5–2 hours at your chosen location. 80–120 fully edited images delivered via private gallery within 10 days. £350 for a standalone engagement session; included within wedding packages.
