Oxfordshire offers some of the most beautiful outdoor portrait settings in England — Port Meadow's ancient Thames-side meadow, Blenheim Palace's landscaped parkland, and the honey-stone villages of the Cotswolds. Whether you're in Oxford, Witney, Abingdon, or the rural Oxfordshire villages further afield, there's a location within easy reach that will produce images you'll want to display for years.
My approach is natural and child-led — I photograph movement, exploration, and laughter rather than static poses. The result is portraits that capture your family as you actually are.

Port Meadow — ancient & atmospheric
Port Meadow has been common land since before the Domesday Book — an ancient, unhurried landscape beside the Thames with the Oxford skyline in the distance. Few places in England feel so timeless.
Blenheim Palace — spectacular parkland
Blenheim's Capability Brown landscape is the grandest parkland in Oxfordshire — the Great Lake, Column of Victory, and formal gardens create a uniquely dramatic backdrop for family portraits.
Golden Cotswold light
The Oxfordshire Cotswolds face south and west — late-afternoon light on honey-stone walls and fields of wildflowers creates the warm, golden tones that Oxfordshire family portraits are known for.
Year-round beauty
Oxfordshire's seasons are all portrait-worthy — bluebell woods in April, blossom along the Thames in May, golden fields in August, and the flame of autumn colour across the Chilterns in October.
Locations
Port Meadow & Oxford
Port Meadow on the western edge of Oxford — the ancient common meadow beside the Thames — is one of the county's most timeless outdoor portrait settings. The combination of wide open floodplain, riverside willows, and the Oxford skyline in the distance creates images that are unmistakably Oxfordshire.
Blenheim Palace Estate
Blenheim Palace's landscaped parkland, formal gardens, and the Great Lake provide an extraordinary backdrop for family portraits. Session timings can take advantage of the golden hour light across the park. Separate ticket required for Blenheim access.
Oxfordshire Cotswolds
The Oxfordshire Cotswolds — Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford, Chipping Norton, Charlbury — offer honey-stone village streets, dry-stone walls, and gentle hills. Families based in Witney, Chipping Norton, and the western fringes of Oxfordshire often choose Cotswold locations.
Thames Valley
The Thames between Oxford and Wallingford threads through water meadows and riverside villages that are quintessentially Oxfordshire. Abingdon-on-Thames, Wallingford, and the stretches of river between them are popular with local families.
Port Meadow and the Oxford river path are classics for Oxfordshire families — very relaxed, naturally beautiful, and accessible. Blenheim Palace grounds are the premium option for something more formal and visually spectacular. The Oxfordshire Cotswolds are ideal for families in Witney, Chipping Norton, or west Oxfordshire.
I work with movement, play, and exploration rather than static poses. Children naturally relax when they're doing something they enjoy — I photograph the activity rather than asking everyone to stand still and smile. The resulting images are truer portraits of your family than any posed group shot.
Yes — I schedule seasonal mini sessions in Oxford and the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, typically in spring blossom season and golden autumn. These are announced via the website and newsletter. Individual mini sessions are also available on request.
Relaxed co-ordination works best — choose a colour palette of 2–3 complementary tones rather than matching outfits. Earth tones, navy, and forest green all photograph well in Oxfordshire's landscape. Avoid large logos or very busy patterns.
Yes — I'm happy to travel to Charlbury, Great Tew, Woodstock, Burford, or anywhere else in Oxfordshire. Travel time beyond a 30-minute radius from Oxford may incur a small travel supplement; contact me to discuss your location.
