Lincoln Cathedral, visible from miles across the flat Vale of Trent, creates spectacular perspectives from Cathedral Close and Castle Hill, while Doddington Hall's walled Elizabethan gardens offer a more intimate setting near Lincoln city.
Harlaxton Manor near Grantham — a dramatic Jacobean Revival pile surrounded by its own formal grounds — offers outstanding exterior compositions.
