Natural In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography
I travel to homes across Aberdeen and the wider Aberdeenshire area for lifestyle newborn photography in the natural light of your own home — no studio, no props, no journey.
Aberdeen is almost entirely built in local granite — and granite homes have a distinctive quality of diffused, even light that makes them naturally excellent for photography. Victorian terraces in the West End, Broomhill, and Ferryhill have high ceilings and generous sash windows. Inter-war semis in Cults, Milltimber, and Bieldside often have well-proportioned rooms with excellent north sky light.
No studio visit, no venturing out with a newborn into Aberdeen weather. I come to your home, read the granite light, find the warmest spots, and document your first days exactly as they are — in your own space, surrounded by familiar sounds and smells.
Partners, older children, grandparents, pets — all welcome. These images tell the complete story of who welcomed this baby into the world.

Around 28–32 weeks of pregnancy is ideal. I hold your dates provisionally and confirm once your baby arrives. Aberdeen has a large professional population with many young families, particularly in the West End, the south side, and the growing Westhill and Kingswells areas. Peak spring and autumn months book up early, so early enquiry is recommended.
Aberdeen's granite homes are excellent for natural light photography. The stone walls are typically thick, which keeps interior temperatures stable, and the large original windows typical of Victorian and Edwardian Aberdeen properties create beautiful directional light. Modern homes in Kingswells, Bridge of Don, and Countesswells also photograph well with the right setup.
I cover Aberdeen and a wide surrounding area: Stonehaven, Inverurie, Westhill, Banchory, Ellon, Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Huntly, and locations across Royal Deeside. Travel within 30 miles of Aberdeen city centre is included in the session fee.
The beauty of home newborn photography is that weather is completely irrelevant — we are inside your home entirely. Overcast days are actually preferred for newborn photography as they provide soft, even natural light through windows. Aberdeen's frequent overcast skies are ideal conditions for lifestyle newborn work.
