Booking at 28–32 weeks of pregnancy is ideal. The newborn session itself takes place in the first two weeks after birth — this is the window when babies sleep most deeply and the tiny details (fingers, curled feet, the soft fold of a newborn ear) are at their freshest. I hold your booking provisionally and confirm dates once your baby arrives.

Yes — I travel to you entirely. Chelmsford homes range from elegant Georgian townhouses near the cathedral, Victorian and Edwardian terraces along Moulsham Street and New London Road, to the 1960s–80s suburban semis of Springfield and Broomfield. Natural window light works beautifully in all of these settings. I'll assess the light when I arrive and we'll work in whichever rooms photograph best.

This is completely normal and not a problem. Newborn sessions are unscripted. I work slowly and patiently — feeds, nappy changes, white-noise settling, whatever the baby needs. The session takes 2–3 hours precisely because there's no rush. Some of the most intimate and beautiful images come from the in-between moments of trying to settle a baby.
