Natural wedding, family and portrait photography at Robin Hood's Bay — outdoor sessions in the cobbled village, on the beach and along the dramatic North Yorkshire Heritage Coast.
Book a SessionRobin Hood's Bay is one of England's most extraordinary and most photographed villages — a tightly packed cluster of red-roofed fishermen's cottages tumbling steeply down the cliff face to a small harbour sluice and the wide North Yorkshire beach below. The village is so steep and narrow that no car can reach the lower part — Bay Town — which preserves its 18th-century character intact, with cobbled lanes, hidden passages and the sound of the sea always present. For portrait photography the setting is without equal on the Yorkshire coast: dramatic, atmospheric and extraordinarily beautiful in almost any light.
The beach below the village at low tide is particularly outstanding for family and couple photography — the flat rock scar extending seaward, the red clay cliffs and the sweep of the bay northward to Whitby. I photograph families, couples, weddings and elopements at Robin Hood's Bay and across the Yorkshire coast and North York Moors — Whitby, Scarborough, Staithes, Runswick Bay and the beautiful moorland and coastal landscapes of the National Park. I travel across North Yorkshire for portrait and wedding sessions.
Documentary wedding coverage for Robin Hood's Bay and the wider North Yorkshire coast — intimate elopement ceremonies on the cliff top, coastal handfastings on the beach and the many beautiful North York Moors and Whitby-area venues.
Natural outdoor family sessions at Robin Hood's Bay beach, in the extraordinary cobbled village, at Boggle Hole and on the North Yorkshire Heritage Coastline — one of England's most dramatic and photogenic coastal settings.
Engagement sessions on the cliff-top walk above Bay Town, on the red clay beach at Boggle Hole, along the coastal path north toward Whitby and on the sweeping seascape panoramas of Ravenscar.
Intimate elopement ceremonies for two at Robin Hood's Bay — cliff-top, beach or moorland settings. Discreet, legal and extraordinary. I photograph elopements and intimate ceremonies across the North York Moors and Yorkshire coast.
Individual portrait sessions in the extraordinary village setting — the steep cobbled lanes of Bay Town, the old coastguard cottages, the harbour slipway and the dramatic coastal landscape stretching north and south.
In-home lifestyle newborn sessions in Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby, Scarborough, Pickering and the surrounding North Yorkshire villages and moors.
The extraordinary lower village of Robin Hood's Bay — steep cobbled lanes, 18th-century fishermen's cottages tumbling down the cliff to the sea, the old lifeboat house and the atmospheric tangle of passages and yards unique to this remarkable place.
The broad beach exposed at low tide — the unusual expanse of flat rock scar extending into the sea, the red clay cliffs and the wide Yorkshire sky create an outstanding natural portrait setting in every season and light.
The beautiful sheltered cove a mile south of the village — a former smugglers' haunt with an old mill, the rocky shore and the approach through the wooded gill of Mill Beck, accessible only on foot from the Cleveland Way.
The dramatic clifftop headland three miles south — the remains of the failed Victorian resort and the extraordinary panoramic views north along the bay to Whitby are among the most atmospheric on the North Yorkshire coast.
The Cleveland Way coastal path north toward Whitby and south toward Scarborough — dramatic clifftop walking, heather moorland meeting the sea and the exceptional quality of light on the Yorkshire coast at dawn and dusk.
