The Pre-Session Questionnaire

Every photography session is different because every client is different — their priorities, their family, their vision of what 'good photographs' means. The best way to close the gap between what a client imagines and what I deliver is thorough preparation before the session.

I send a pre-session questionnaire to every booked client. It takes about ten minutes to complete and covers things like your priorities for the session, any family dynamics to be aware of, any elements you definitely want captured and things you'd prefer to avoid.

Questionnaire responses directly shape how I approach a session — the locations I suggest, the order I work in, how I handle particular people within a group, and what I make sure I capture before the session ends.
