About this session
There is a particular magic to a Cambridge summer evening — the long northern light spilling sideways across the meadows, the warm stone of the colleges catching gold, the slow drift of punts on the Cam. Summer mini-sessions are designed around exactly that: thirty minutes of golden-hour light, in the most beautifully photogenic corners of the city, captured with the relaxed, documentary feel that families come to me for. No rigid posing. No awkward sitting still. Just your family, the light, and the city at its loveliest.
Summer is the kindest season for outdoor family photography in Cambridge. The light stays soft and warm until late, the gardens are at their richest, and children can run, climb and play comfortably in linen and bare feet. I keep the sessions short and joyful — thirty minutes is exactly long enough to capture portraits, sibling moments, parents-with-children, and the small in-between gestures that families treasure most, without ever tipping into the meltdown territory of a longer shoot.
What to expect: I'll meet you at the chosen location around 6:30pm for golden-hour light. We'll walk a short circuit together, photographing as we go — a few framed portraits, plenty of natural play, a couple of family-of-four arrangements if you'd like them. You'll receive a private online gallery of ten beautifully edited high-resolution images within seven days, ready to print, share or turn into wall art. Booking is by deposit and slots are allocated in order of enquiry.

Frequently Asked
All ages — from newborns through teenagers. Mini-sessions work particularly well for families with children aged 18 months and upwards, when little ones can walk and explore. For very young babies I'd usually recommend a longer indoor newborn session instead, but I'm happy to discuss your situation.
Soft, summery colours photograph beautifully in golden-hour light — linen, cotton, cream, sage, dusty pink, pale blue, oatmeal. Avoid heavy logos, neon brights and busy patterns. I'll send a styling guide with example outfits once you've booked, including a Pinterest board for inspiration.
I monitor the forecast closely in the week leading up to your session. If conditions look genuinely unworkable (heavy rain or thunderstorms), I'll contact you 24 hours in advance and we'll move your session to the reserve date free of charge. Light drizzle or overcast skies often produce lovely soft-light portraits, so we usually proceed unless it's truly unsafe.
Absolutely. If anyone in your family is unwell on the day, please let me know as early as possible and I'll move you to the next available slot at no extra charge. The deposit is fully transferable to a rescheduled session.
Yes — mini-sessions are designed for immediate family of up to six people, which comfortably covers parents, children and one or two grandparents. Larger family groups (eight or more) are best photographed in a standard 90-minute family session rather than a mini-session, so please get in touch separately if that's what you need.
Of course — well-behaved dogs are very welcome and make wonderful family photographs. Please bring a treat or toy to help with attention, and a second adult who can step in to handle the lead during pure-family frames. The Botanic Garden allows dogs on leads in designated areas.
