Photography Workshops UK — Learn from a Practising Professional
Photography workshops with Yana Skakun are intensive, practical learning sessions designed for photographers at all levels — from complete beginners picking up their first mirrorless camera to developing photographers who want to understand the specific technical and creative approaches that underpin Yana’s work. The emphasis throughout is practical: less theory, more shooting, with direct feedback on the images produced during the session.
Workshop formats include one-to-one mentoring sessions, small-group workshops (maximum 6 participants), and specialist subject days covering specific areas of photography — natural light portraiture, newborn photography safety and technique, family documentary photography, and post-processing workflow in Lightroom. All workshops are held in Cambridge and East Anglia, with annual residential workshops available in other locations.
One-to-One Photography Mentoring
Photography mentoring sessions are the fastest and most effective way to progress — a full day or half day working one-to-one with an experienced professional who can identify exactly where your current work can improve and give you the specific tools to address those gaps immediately. Mentoring is available for photographers at any stage and focuses specifically on their individual work and goals.
Second Shooting Assistantships
For photographers developing their wedding photography career, second shooting opportunities alongside Yana at real weddings provide invaluable practical experience that no workshop can replicate. Second shooting positions are competitive and offered only to photographers who have completed a mentoring session with Yana.
