Having your professional family photographs is one thing. Displaying them in your home in a way that gives them the prominence they deserve is another. These ideas work for any style of interior design and any budget.
One approach that families who book annual sessions often use: a dedicated wall that is updated each year with a new set of prints. The same wall, the same frame sizes, the same arrangement — but different images each year showing the children growing. Over five or ten years, this becomes one of the most meaningful features of a home: a living, evolving record of the family.
The practical method: identical uniformly sized frames (say, five frames at 20x25cm) that can be reused each year with new prints. The investment in the frames is a one-time cost; the annual update is simply a print order.
A diverse arrangement using different image sizes, frame finishes, and orientations creates a more eclectic and personal display. This works particularly well for families with many years of photographs to display — combining a wedding image with a newborn portrait with a family session with a milestone birthday portrait, all from different periods, tells a whole family story.
Sometimes one excellent print, well-sized and properly placed, is more impactful than any gallery wall. A 50x70cm wedding portrait above a fireplace. A 40x50cm family photograph the dominant visual in the entrance hall. One image, shown prominently, seen every day.
A staircase wall accommodates a vertical or diagonal arrangement naturally. A series of photographs arranged to follow the stairs upward — from wedding and early family images at the bottom to more recent family photographs higher up — creates a narrative that visitors walk alongside as they climb the stairs.
Fine art prints in all sizes. If you have an existing gallery, print orders can be placed at any time. Get in touch to discuss your display plans.
