Key Photography Locations

• ◆Èze Village: A medieval hilltop village perched 427 metres above the sea, between Nice and Monaco. The views from the village cactus garden at the summit are some of the finest on the Riviera — a sheer drop to the turquoise Mediterranean far below, with Cap-Ferrat visible to the west. The village interior — narrow stone passages, arched doorways, flower-filled windows — provides intimate portrait spaces. It is popular and can be crowded; early morning is significantly quieter.
• ◆Cap-Ferrat Peninsula: The exclusive peninsula between Nice and Monaco. The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and its formal gardens (seven gardens in different international styles) offer a combination of formal Belle Époque architecture and sea views. The coastal path around the cap provides intimate sea and pine forest environments.
• ◆Nice Old Town (Vieux-Nice): Baroque architecture in deep yellow, ochre, and terracotta — the Ligurian palette rather than the Provençal one. Season and Weather

• ◆April–June: The most pleasant season for photography. Warm sun, manageable crowds, almond blossom and mimosa earlier in spring. Excellent photography conditions.
• ◆July–August: Peak season. Very hot (30–35°C), extremely crowded at the main sites. The Riviera is at its most glamorous — and most packed. Early morning sessions essential.
• ◆September–October: Ideal. Warm, clear, less crowded. The sea is still warm for any coastal elements. Photography conditions are arguably the best of the year in late September.
• ◆November–March: The quietest season. The Riviera has a winter climate that is mild by northern European standards (15–18°C in Nice), and many of the tourist sites are deserted. Winter Riviera photography has a coolly elegant quality very different from the summertime version.
