• ◆September–October: Popular harvest season when combined with Douro Valley wine harvest photography. Porto is busy but not saturated. The autumn light is golden and warm.
• ◆November–March: Porto can be rainy in winter (it is the wettest major city in Western Europe). But the light after rain — wet cobblestones reflecting light, grey river atmosphere — produces a distinctive and beautiful photographic effect. This is valid as a deliberate aesthetic choice.
