Every session includes
Arthur's Seat & Holyrood Park
The extinct volcano at the heart of the city — dramatic geology, big skies, and a panorama that encompasses the whole of Edinburgh.
Dean Village
A hidden medieval mill village in a Water of Leith valley — stone bridges, ivy-covered walls, and the feeling of being a world away from the city above.
Calton Hill
The neoclassical monument-topped hill with a 360° panorama of Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth, and the Pentlands — spectacular at any time of day.
Old Town Closes & Victoria Street
The curved, multi-coloured Victoria Street descending to the Grassmarket, and the dark, ancient closes off the Royal Mile — atmospheric and dramatic in any light.
Cramond Beach & Island
A Victorian village at the mouth of the River Almond with a causeway to Cramond Island accessible at low tide — a completely different, wilder side of Edinburgh.
Stockbridge & the New Town
Georgian terraces, the Water of Leith walkway, and the village-within-the-city atmosphere of Stockbridge — elegant and varied.
Do you travel to Edinburgh for couples sessions?
Yes — Edinburgh is fully within my travel range. A travel supplement of £75 applies to cover travel from my Cambridge base. Sessions are typically booked with at least 3–4 weeks' notice.
We feel awkward in front of a camera. Will that show in the photographs?
Almost every couple says this. And almost every couple is surprised by their images. I work by giving movement and activity prompts — walking together, looking at something, a specific task — rather than asking you to pose. The result is natural photographs of real moments.
What's the best time of year for a couples session in Edinburgh?
Every season offers something different. Late spring and early summer bring long golden evenings perfect for Arthur's Seat. Autumn turns the Holyrood Park bracken rich ochre. Even Edinburgh in misty November has a remarkable atmospheric quality. I'll recommend specific locations for your chosen season.
How long is the session?
Standard couples sessions are 75–90 minutes — enough time to visit 1–2 locations, settle into the shoot, and come away with a wide range of images without feeling rushed.
Can we choose our own location?
Always — if there's somewhere in Edinburgh that's meaningful to you, we can shoot there. I'll do location research beforehand to understand the light and access.
Tell me your preferred date and which part of Edinburgh appeals to you — I'll confirm availability and suggest the best locations for the season.
