Outdoor bump sessions in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire — relaxed, natural, and genuinely you.
Maternity Photography
Pregnancy is a chapter that passes faster than any other. The shape, the weight of anticipation, the way you hold yourself — these are worth documenting properly, in the real world, in the light you actually live in.
Cambridge is surrounded by extraordinarily beautiful outdoor locations for maternity photography. Grantchester Meadows at golden hour, the riverside at The Backs, the enclosed beauty of the Botanic Garden — these are the kinds of backdrops that make photographs feel genuinely meaningful rather than staged.
My maternity sessions are relaxed and unhurried. We walk, we talk, we find the moments when you're not thinking about being photographed. That's when the best images happen.
Where We Shoot
Grantchester Meadows
May – October
The most naturally beautiful spot near Cambridge — wildflower fields, riverside willows, and the golden evening light that makes bump photographs extraordinary.
The Backs / Cam River
Year-round
Classic Cambridge — weeping willows, the river, and the iconic college silhouettes. Best on a quiet morning or midweek afternoon.
Cambridge Botanic Garden
March – October
Enclosed garden atmosphere with seasonal plantings — from cherry blossoms in spring to deep autumn colour. Always beautiful, always calm.
Wimpole Estate Parkland
Year-round
Grand National Trust parkland west of Cambridge with sweeping avenues and open parkland. Ideal for couples who want a timeless, editorial feel.
Barton Road Meadows
Spring & Summer
Quiet green spaces on the edge of Cambridge — easy to access, less busy than the city centre, beautiful soft afternoon light.
Ely Cathedral Riverside
Year-round
15 minutes from Cambridge — the cathedral from the meadows, or the broad riverside walks with dramatic skies.
Best Time to Book
28–30 weeks
Ideal for most
The bump is beautifully visible, you have plenty of energy, and there's no rush. Most people choose this window.
31–34 weeks
Still great
A fuller, rounder bump — if a more dramatic shape is what you want, this is the sweet spot.
35+ weeks
Book early
It absolutely works, but please book as early as possible. Keep a 'weather backup' date in mind too.

Ideally, contact me at 20–22 weeks and we'll schedule for your 28–32 week window. This gives us flexibility to move the date slightly if needed (weather, energy, etc.).
Simple, timeless clothing works best outdoors — a flowy maxi dress, a fitted jersey dress, or even a loose shirt and trousers for a more casual look. Avoid very busy patterns. Earth tones, whites, and creams photograph beautifully in a Cambridge outdoor setting.
Absolutely — the Extended Maternity package is designed for this. Couples and siblings in the frame often make the most treasured images. We'll spend time with the family, then also take some solo bump portraits.
We keep a backup date available. Overcast conditions actually photograph very well for maternity work — soft, even, flattering light. But if it's heavy rain or very cold for you, we move the date. Your comfort always comes first.
Yes — the Maternity + Newborn Bundle is exactly this: a full outdoor bump session, then a newborn lifestyle session at home (typically 1–2 weeks after baby arrives). The edited galleries are a complete narrative of this chapter of your family's life.
I specialise in outdoor and natural light maternity work — the Cambridge landscape is so beautiful that most clients prefer an outdoor setting. For indoor natural light (e.g. home or a light-filled space), this can also be arranged — just ask.
