Family portraits, engagement sessions and personal photography in Chiswick's extraordinary gardens, riverside meadows and historic towpaths.
West London Photography
Chiswick possesses a quiet confidence that many of London's more prominent districts cannot match. Its Palladian villa and the Grade I listed landscape that surrounds it, its Georgian riverside cottages at Strand-on-the-Green, its orchards at Duke's Meadows and its tree-lined high road — taken together, Chiswick offers a breadth and depth of photographic possibility that photographers seek for years before discovering.
I have been photographing families, couples and individuals in Chiswick for many years, working across every season and in every kind of light. The spring blossom along the Thames towpath between Chiswick Bridge and Kew is possibly the finest floral photography backdrop in West London. The autumn colour in Chiswick House Gardens — the orange of the chestnuts, the gold of the willow leaves — is something photographers travel from across the country to capture.
My approach is entirely documentary. I do not direct people to stand in front of landmarks and perform for the camera. I ask you to walk with me, to sit on the grass, to let your children run. And within that ordinary freedom, I find the extraordinary moments — the glance, the laugh, the hand-hold that you will want to see in a frame on your wall for the rest of your life.
If you live in Chiswick or are looking for a photographer for a Chiswick-based session, I would love to talk. I also serve the entire West London corridor — Kew, Richmond, Barnes, Hammersmith, Putney and Sheen.
Where We Shoot
Six distinct settings, each with its own character, all within Chiswick and the immediate riverside area.
Lord Burlington's neo-Palladian villa (1729) set within 65 acres of Grade I listed landscape gardens. The Italian garden, cascade, lake and avenue of chestnut trees create an extraordinary backdrop for family portraits and engagement sessions.
A hidden 55-acre riverside park along the Thames foreshore, popular with families and walkers. The open meadows, mature willows and river views provide a beautifully English backdrop for natural, relaxed photography.
The riverside walk from Chiswick Bridge to Kew Railway Bridge passes orchards in blossom, full-grown plane trees and golden autumn colour — one of West London's finest all-seasons photography routes.
Chiswick's village green provides a quintessentially English setting. The surrounding period houses and independent cafés create a relaxed, local community atmosphere ideal for lifestyle and family sessions.
This historic strand of Georgian and Victorian cottages facing the Thames is one of Greater London's most charming photography locations. The riverside footpath, historic pubs and boat moorings set it apart.
The wide open spaces of Chiswick Park and the neighbouring common provide convenient year-round options for early morning golden-hour sessions and winter bare-branch portraits with children.

Featured Location
Designed by Lord Burlington in 1729 and widely considered one of Britain's finest examples of neo-Palladian architecture, Chiswick House and its surrounding landscape garden offer an unparalleled backdrop for portrait photography in West London.
The 65-acre grounds contain a classical cascade, ornamental lake, walled Italian garden, hedged walk to a classical temple and two long chestnut avenues. In spring the camellia collection — one of England's oldest — blooms inside the historic greenhouse. In autumn the whole garden is brass and gold.
