Stanley Park's formal Italian garden and boating lake offer refined, elegant portrait settings in the heart of the town. South of the Fylde, Lytham St Annes beach stretches for miles with open sand, rolling dunes, and a sky that seems to go on forever — particularly beautiful at golden hour. And east of Preston, the Forest of Bowland AONB opens into bleak, beautiful fell country.
I photograph naturally and without direction — working with the particular quality of Lancashire light, which coastal and moorland landscapes give in abundance. Where do you recommend for portrait sessions near Blackpool?+
Stanley Park — Blackpool's grand interwar park — is the best city location: the formal Italian garden and boating lake are elegant and varied. For something more distinctive, Lytham St Annes beach gives wide golden sand and enormous Fylde Coast sky. The Forest of Bowland, 45 minutes east, is extraordinary for dramatic moorland portraits.
Can we do a beach portrait session at Lytham?+
Yes — Lytham St Annes beach is one of the finest coastal portrait settings in north-west England. The wide sand, the rolling dunes, and the quality of the Atlantic light at golden hour make beach sessions here genuinely exceptional. I recommend late afternoon in spring and summer, and midday in autumn and winter when the light stays low and golden.
Do you photograph in the Forest of Bowland?+
Yes — the Bowland AONB is one of Lancashire's great secrets for photographers: deep river valleys (the Hodder, the Ribble), open fell tops with enormous skies, and ancient woodland. It is 40–50 minutes from Blackpool and entirely different in character. Available for Full and Extended session packages.

Yes — I cover the whole of the Blackpool area including Lytham St Annes, Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Preston, Chorley, and extending into the Ribble Valley. Travel within 25 miles of Blackpool is included.
