What locations do you recommend for portrait photography in Northampton?+
Delapré Abbey is our most popular choice — the Georgian manor house and parkland give a beautiful formal garden and estate setting that photographs wonderfully at any time of year. For a grander historic setting, Holdenby House has Elizabethan gardens and beautiful open parkland. The Northamptonshire ironstone countryside — particularly heading towards Fotheringhay and the Nene Valley — offers a rolling farmland landscape that is much less commonly used for portraiture but deeply beautiful.
What time of year is best for portrait sessions in Northamptonshire?+
Late spring (May–June) is beautiful for the estate gardens and walled garden at Delapré and Holdenby. Late summer and early autumn (August–October) give the warmest, richest light for countryside settings. Winter sessions in the bare ironstone landscape can be remarkably atmospheric. I photograph year-round.

Althorp — the Spencer family seat — does permit photography on its public open days and at certain events. I can advise on how best to plan this if it appeals to you. Holdenby House and Delapré offer similar estate portrait settings without special access requirements and are excellent alternatives.
