Natural portraits among York's medieval streets, riverside meadows, and the North Yorkshire countryside.
York is one of England's most atmospheric cities for portrait photography. The grounds of York Minster — with its rose gardens and medieval stonework — provide an extraordinary setting that is unlike anywhere else in the country. Museum Gardens, with its ruined abbey walls and ancient trees, creates a painterly natural-light backdrop just five minutes from the city centre.
The medieval city walls offer elevated views and architectural framing for contemporary portraits. The Shambles, while busy during the day, becomes atmospheric in the early morning or evening light. I travel to York for individual portraits, creative headshots, couples, and relaxed family sessions.

Yes — the grounds around York Minster are among my favourite portrait locations in the north of England. The medieval stonework and formal gardens create a backdrop that is both distinctive and beautiful. We avoid busy tourist hours — early morning or evening sessions give you the space to be relaxed and natural.
Absolutely — North Yorkshire Moors, the Howardian Hills, and the Wolds all offer beautiful countryside settings within easy reach of York. Castle Howard grounds are particularly popular for extended and family portrait sessions.
I travel to York regularly. A travel supplement applies beyond 50 miles from my Cambridge base and will be included in your personalised quote.
Two to four weeks is typical, though golden hour (summer evenings) and autumn sessions book up quickly. I'd recommend getting in touch as soon as you have a date in mind.
