Marking your relationship milestones in Manchester's most beautiful settings — Heaton Park, Tatton Park, Fletcher Moss Gardens, Castlefield, and Worsley Woods.

Manchester is most often photographed for its architectural character — the Victorian civic grandeur, the red brick canal warehouses, the contemporary MediaCityUK waterfront. But the Greater Manchester area also contains some of the finest parkland and countryside portrait settings in the North of England, from Tatton Park in Cheshire to Heaton Park's extraordinary European-scale municipal gardens.
For anniversary sessions, Manchester rewards the couple willing to explore slightly beyond the city centre — Worsley's remarkable canal colours, Fletcher Moss's rose garden and orchid house, the Bridgewater Canal towpath in autumn — locations that feel genuinely intimate and unhurried rather than tourist-facing.
These sessions are relaxed and unscripted. We walk together, I photograph what naturally occurs between you, and the result is something that captures your relationship as it is — not a posed recreation of your wedding album, but documentary portraits of who you are together now.
The largest municipal park in Europe — Home Farm, the orangery, the boating lake, the long formal terrace overlooking Lancashire, and vast areas of natural parkland. Heaton Park's scale and beauty make it one of Manchester's finest portrait locations, genuinely photogenic in every season.
The reconstructed Roman fort walls, the Castlefield basin canal network, the brick railway viaducts, and the water reflections beneath them create a richly textured and atmospheric backdrop. Castlefield at dusk, when the canal lights are reflected in the water, is particularly beautiful.
The rose gardens, the alpine rock garden, and the tranquil orchid house at Fletcher Moss are among Manchester's most underrated portrait locations. The adjacent River Mersey meadows and the old Millgate lane add a quietly rural character rarely associated with the city.
The wooded paths above the Bridgewater Canal towpath in Worsley, the Tudor timber-framed Orrell House, and the extraordinary orange-stained channel waters (naturally coloured by old coal mines) create an entirely distinctive and photogenic setting for anniversary portraits.
Just south of the city, Tatton Park's National Trust deer park, formal gardens, ornamental lake, and the elegant Georgian mansion provide one of the finest anniversary locations in the North West — particularly beautiful for vow renewals and milestone occasions.
The dock basins, the MediaCityUK waterfront, and the Imperial War Museum North's reflective titanium panels create a distinctly contemporary and architectural backdrop — ideal for couples who want something modern and graphic rather than pastoral.

Yes — a travel supplement of £75 applies for Manchester sessions. I often schedule multiple sessions across a single Manchester visit, and regularly work with couples and families across Greater Manchester and the North West.
Heaton Park and Tatton Park are exceptional in autumn, when the parkland trees turn gold and copper. Fletcher Moss rose garden peaks in June. Worsley Woods has a wonderful mossy, enclosed character in spring. Castlefield canals work in any season — winter fog adds atmosphere in a way that surprises most people.
Tatton Park is a licensed wedding and civil ceremony venue, so full vow renewal ceremonies including a ceremony registrar are possible with their coordination team. I can photograph the full day alongside the ceremony. Get in touch and I can connect you with the right people.
Yes — Heaton Park, Tatton Park, and the Worsley countryside are all ideal for children and dogs. Anniversary sessions with family members naturally evolve into milestone family portraits, and I carry biscuits for the dogs.
The most important thing is that you both feel comfortable and like yourselves. For Tatton Park or vow renewal occasions, something slightly elevated — a dress, a jacket — tends to suit the scale of the setting. For the canal basins or Worsley Woods, more relaxed clothing works beautifully. We can discuss this in detail when we plan the session.
