Wedding anniversaries are the relationship milestones that most often go undocumented — couples have photographs from their wedding day but rarely anything marking the years of life and partnership that followed. An anniversary session is a chance to change that.
Cambridge provides some of England's most extraordinary locations for anniversary photography — from the ancient stonework and manicured lawns of the College Backs to the wildflower meadows of Grantchester, the curated gardens of the Botanic Garden and the atmospheric stretch of the River Cam. Each location brings something distinctive depending on your personality as a couple and the anniversary you are marking.
Anniversary sessions in Cambridge are typically relaxed and conversational — we simply spend time in beautiful places together and I photograph you as you naturally are with each other. Many couples find anniversary sessions feel more relaxed than their wedding day photography precisely because there is no schedule, no guest list, no pressure.
The Backs offer a setting that is simultaneously intimate and architecturally magnificent. Anniversary portraits here carry a timelessness that is hard to find anywhere else in England — every season produces something extraordinary.
The meadows between Cambridge and Grantchester are perfect for relaxed, pastoral anniversary sessions — wildflowers and the River Cam in spring and summer, golden grass and long shadows in autumn.
The University Botanic Garden offers curated beauty through every season — spring blossom, summer roses, autumn colour. Revisiting the Botanic Garden on a significant anniversary creates a powerful sense of continuity.
An anniversary punting session on the Cam is a genuinely special experience — relaxed, romantic and exclusive to Cambridge. The waterway provides constantly changing, naturally beautiful composition opportunities.
Having your anniversary session at the location of your Cambridge wedding creates photographs of particular emotional resonance — the same place, years later, the same couple evolved. Especially meaningful for significant milestones.
The historic deckchair garden of the Orchard at Grantchester — favoured by Rupert Brooke, Virginia Woolf and E.M. Forster — provides an authentically Cambridge, deeply romantic setting for afternoon anniversary sessions.

Entirely your choice. I work with couples who want formal, elegant portrait-style sessions in Cambridge's most beautiful locations, and equally with those who want a relaxed afternoon walk along the river. Most sessions blend both naturally.
The first anniversary is increasingly popular — a chance to revisit the romance of the wedding year that has just passed. Fifth, tenth, silver (25) and golden (50) are all natural milestones. But any anniversary worth marking is worth photographing.
Absolutely. Revisiting your Cambridge wedding venue or ceremony church for your anniversary session produces photographs of great emotional significance. I can contact venues in advance to arrange access.
Yes — many anniversary sessions evolve into family sessions naturally. The photographs capture your family at this milestone in a way that is relaxed and natural, often producing some of the most beautiful family portraits.
The Botanic Garden is spectacular in May–June (blossom and roses). The river and Grantchester are at their most lush in June–August. Autumn is beautiful at the Backs and in the open meadows. Winter holds a romantic quietness at many indoor and courtyard College locations.
