What Is a Mini Session in Photography?

A mini session is a shorter, more focused version of a full photography session — typically 20 to 30 minutes, with a smaller set of delivered images and a lower price point. Mini sessions are designed to capture one specific thing well: a family at Christmas, a child at a particular age, a couple on Valentine's Day.

They are not a compromise. They work because they are designed around a single brief rather than attempting to cover everything. The result is a tightly edited gallery of excellent images from one concentrated shoot, rather than a longer session that covers more ground.

How Mini Sessions Work

Mini sessions are typically offered in groups — multiple families or clients booked consecutively at the same location on the same day. This allows everyone to benefit from a fully prepared setup (lighting arranged, background dressed, location scouted) at a fraction of the cost of a private full session.

Each slot is private — you will not see other clients during your session. The preparation that goes into a mini session day matches that of a full session day; the difference is in the duration, not the standard.

What You Receive

A typical mini session delivers between 10 and 20 fully edited digital images, usually depending on session length and theme. These are delivered via an online gallery within 2 to 3 weeks. Print products can be ordered separately.

Mini sessions are ideal for: annual family portraits, first birthday cake smashes, seasonal updates, newborn lifestyle sessions, couples portraits, and themed seasonal photography.

When Mini Sessions Are Available

Mini sessions are offered at specific dates throughout the year, aligned with seasons and themes: spring blossom, autumn golden hour, Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day, Easter, and summer sunflower sessions. Availability is limited and booking fills quickly — the limited-slot format is part of what makes them accessible.
