Guildford & Surrey Hills
Family Photography in Guildford
The Surrey Hills AONB offers some of the most photogenic countryside in southern England — chalk downland, ancient woodland, and open hillside less than 40 miles from central London. Guildford sits at the heart of it, making it an exceptional base for outdoor family portrait sessions.
I photograph families in a relaxed, unposed way that celebrates how your family actually is — the real interactions, the movement, and the quiet moments alongside the laughter. No forced smiles or stiff arrangements; just genuine documentary portraits of life as it is right now.

Locations
Ancient hilltop church with sweeping North Downs views — stunning sunrise and golden-hour backdrops.
Open chalk downland with panoramic Surrey Hills views — popular for a reason.
Elizabethan manor house with walled garden and meadow — a magical family-session setting.
Quintessential English village with stream, churchyard, and flint walls.
Spectacular autumn colour and bluebell woodland on the Surrey Hills hillside.
The medieval castle, cobbled High Street, and Wey riverside — characterful urban backdrops.
Newlands Corner is my first recommendation — wide open space, easy parking, and no need to walk far to reach beautiful scenery. For woodland and intimacy, the Winkworth Arboretum hillside paths are wonderful (though the steps require confident walkers).
No — the North Downs are beautiful year round. Bluebell season (late April) is exceptional, autumn colour in October–November is spectacular, and winter frost and low sun create a very different but equally beautiful atmosphere.
Yes — I cover all of Surrey including Woking, Dorking, Reigate, Epsom, Esher, Walton-on-Thames, and beyond. If you have a particular location in mind, get in touch and we can plan the perfect session.
Most families book 6–8 weeks ahead. For popular autumn colour sessions in October, I'd recommend booking as early as August to ensure availability.
Absolutely — private-garden sessions are lovely, particularly for young children who feel most comfortable at home. I work with whatever light and space you have.
