Family Photography in the Lakes
The Lake District offers the most beautiful backdrop for family photography in England — still lakes reflecting ancient fells, woodland paths carpeted with bluebells or autumn leaves, tumbling waterfalls, and that particular quality of light you only find in the north-west. It's a landscape that makes every family photo extraordinary.
Whether you're based in Cumbria or visiting the Lakes on holiday, I offer relaxed, unposed family sessions that capture how you actually are together — the energy, the laughter, the quiet moments of connection. No stiff poses, no uncomfortable arrangements.
Sessions are available beside Windermere, Coniston, Grasmere, Rydal Water, Ullswater, and many other locations across the National Park.

Locations
England's largest lake with wooded shores, jetties, and mountains reflected in still water — iconic and beautiful.
A smaller, quieter lake surrounded by ancient oak woodland — peaceful and photogenic in any light.
Long and tranquil with Coniston Old Man reflected in the water — wonderful for golden-hour family sessions.
The most picturesque village in Cumbria — stone walls, a lake, and woodland walks right from the centre.
A perfectly composed tarn with woodland paths and mountain backdrops — especially beautiful in autumn.
A dramatic waterfall cascade in ancient oak woodland above Ullswater — perfect for adventurous families.
I travel from Cambridgeshire to the Lake District for sessions. Accommodation costs are included in the session fee for multi-day or remote bookings, or can be quoted separately — please enquire.
Late spring (May–June) for lush green woodland and clear reflections, and September–October for vivid autumn colour at Tarn Hows and the lakesides. Early morning is always worth the effort to avoid other visitors.
Lake District rain creates its own magic — mist on the fells, reflections on wet paths, dramatic skies. I embrace it fully. That said, we'll always discuss contingency plans during the booking consultation.
Absolutely. An extended session can include a Windermere boat crossing, a woodland walk, or a gentle lakeside stroll — whatever reflects how your family actually spends time here.
Your private gallery of fully edited images will be ready within 10 business days of your session.
