Newcastle upon Tyne is surrounded by great family photo locations. Exhibition Park in the city's West End has open grassland and the Bavarian-style boating lake — perfect for energetic children who need room to run. Jesmond Dene, the Victorian wooded gorge carved by Ouseburn just a mile from the Quayside, is magical in every season with log bridges, a waterfall, and a children's farm. For something truly spectacular, Alnwick Castle (30 minutes up the A1) offers medieval ramparts and the famous Alnwick Garden.
The Northumberland coast — Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses, and the Holy Island causeway — provides epic coastal backdrops for adventurous families willing to travel a little further. I offer all-season family sessions across Newcastle, Gateshead, and wider Northumberland.

Yes — I travel to Newcastle and Northumberland for family sessions. Travel costs are included in the Northumberland Day package and discussed transparently for city sessions.
What's the best time of year for outdoor family photos?
Late spring (May–June) and early autumn (September–October) tend to give the softest light and most reliable weather, though I work all year round including winter, which can be spectacular on the Northumberland coast.
Can we include the grandparents?
Absolutely. Extended family sessions are very much welcomed — just let me know numbers when enquiring so I can plan the right duration.
