No Script. No Convention.
For couples who designed their day from scratch. Documentary photography that adapts to what you built, not what weddings are supposed to look like.
Non-traditional weddings are, by definition, difficult to categorise. They might be small or large, formal or casual, conventional-adjacent or completely off-script. What they share is that the couple made their own decisions about what the day should look like — ignoring, selecting from, or completely rejecting the wedding industry template.
Documentary photography suits non-traditional weddings particularly well, because it documents what actually happens rather than manufacturing a version of what wedding pictures are supposed to look like. When your day is genuinely different, the best photography is the kind that captures the difference honestly rather than smoothing it away.
Non-traditional weddings don't follow the timeline or sequence of conventional ones. I adapt to what actually happens rather than expecting events in a particular order.
Art galleries, restaurants, parks, boats, back gardens, warehouses, chapels that haven't been weddings before — unusual spaces are where I do some of my best work.
Jumpsuits, colour, black, vintage, suits, short dresses, and everything else — the visual diversity of non-traditional weddings is one of what makes them compelling to document.
Humanist, secular, handfasting, self-written — the ceremony at the heart of a non-traditional wedding is often the most interesting part to photograph.

Anything you designed yourselves without following the standard wedding template. That might mean a backyard ceremony and a restaurant dinner, or a legal quickie ceremony and a massive house party, or something quite elaborate that just happens to not resemble any wedding that came before it.
Yes — I photograph a wide range of alternative weddings and have covered elopements, micro-weddings, all-day festivals, multi-venue celebrations, and ceremonies that weren't technically permitted to be called weddings but very much were.
For weekend dates 6-18 months ahead, ideally as soon as you have a date. I have some mid-week and off-season availability at shorter notice.
The more different it is, the more interested I am.
