Winchester has outstanding portrait locations. Cathedral Close and College Street offer medieval stonework and atmosphere. St Catherine's Hill provides sweeping views over the Itchen Valley. The water meadows along the River Itchen are luminous in early morning light. Farley Mount Country Park has ancient woodland and chalk downland. Twyford Down and South Downs give dramatic elevated views, and Mottisfont Abbey in the Test Valley has National Trust walled gardens.
Late April through early June gives soft, warm light with fresh greenery at Cathedral Close and along the Itchen. September through October produces golden hour light at Farley Mount and St Catherine's Hill. December through February can be strikingly atmospheric in the Cathedral precincts. Each season has its own quality — I'm happy to advise based on the feeling you want in your portraits.
Yes. Winchester has a significant professional population — academics at the University of Winchester, writers, legal professionals, and independent consultants. I photograph professional portraits for business use, editorial, and books in Winchester and across Hampshire. See also my dedicated headshots page for Winchester.
I cover all of Hampshire and neighbouring counties: Romsey, Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford, Andover, Basingstoke, Alresford, Alton, Petersfield, and into West Sussex. The South Downs National Park is particularly popular with clients across the region.
