Engagement sessions and pre-wedding shoots in one of England's most beautiful cities — from a photographer who knows every corner of it
Cambridge Engagement Photography
Based in Cambridge, I photograph the city and its surroundings throughout the year. I know the light on the Backs at different seasons, the access rules for the college grounds, the quietest corners of the Botanic Garden, and the moments when the meadows are at their most beautiful.
A Cambridge pre-wedding shoot is one of the most valuable things you can add to your wedding photography. It gives you beautiful photographs in a setting that may be deeply meaningful to you — and it gives us the chance to build the ease and trust that will make your wedding day portraits so much better.
I bring the same warm, documentary approach to every pre-wedding session — gentle guidance, no uncomfortable poses, and photographs that look genuinely like you.
Cambridge Locations
From the iconic Backs to wild fenland — the finest Cambridge settings for engagement and pre-wedding sessions.
The quintessential Cambridge backdrop — punts on the Cam, the mathematical bridge, the sweeping lawns behind King's College. The King's Backs at golden hour are among the most beautiful settings for engagement photography anywhere in England.
A short walk from the city, Grantchester Meadows offer wild, open beauty that feels miles from Cambridge — cattle in the fields, willows trailing in the river, long grass in summer and frost-silvered paths in winter. Completely timeless.
The formal gardens of Clare College are among Cambridge's hidden jewels — ornamental planting, stone balustrades, and the sense of centuries of calm. Particularly beautiful in spring when the herbaceous borders are in full bloom.
Forty acres of beautifully maintained gardens — the glasshouses, the rock garden, the arboretum, and the lake. The Botanic Garden offers remarkable variety within one location and is stunning in every season from snowdrops to autumn colour.
The oldest nature reserve in the National Trust — an ancient fenland landscape of reed beds, open water, and enormous East Anglian skies. Wicken Fen is dramatic, atmospheric, and utterly unlike anywhere else in Cambridgeshire.
A National Trust house and garden with 114 acres of beautifully designed grounds — formal avenues, a winter garden, and open parkland. Anglesey Abbey is particularly remarkable in winter, when it is one of the finest snowdrop gardens in the country.

Questions
Cambridge is one of the most beautiful cities in England — and as a photographer based here, I know every corner of it. A Cambridge pre-wedding shoot gives you relaxed, natural photographs in a genuinely extraordinary setting, while also giving us the chance to get to know each other before your wedding day. Couples who have done a pre-shoot are consistently more comfortable and natural on the day itself.
Access to the college grounds and Backs varies — some areas are freely accessible, while others require a permit or have restricted photography rules, particularly for commercial use. I handle all location logistics and permissions as part of your booking. I know Cambridge's access rules well and will plan the session to make the most of what is available.
Every season has something extraordinary to offer in Cambridge. Spring brings blossom and the college gardens in bloom. Summer offers long golden evenings and punters on the Cam. Autumn brings warm light and the copper tones of the avenue trees. Winter gives you mist over the meadows and dramatic skies. I am equally enthusiastic about each season and can advise based on your preferences and available dates.
Absolutely — a punting session is one of the most quintessentially Cambridge options available, and I photograph from the bank and from a following punt depending on the shots we want. It is a relaxed, fun experience that produces naturally joyful images. I can recommend a punt operator and help coordinate the session timing.
I send all booked clients a detailed styling guide. In brief: wear something you feel genuinely comfortable in, coordinate rather than match, and consider the setting — a meadow calls for something different to the formal college gardens. I am always happy to discuss outfit ideas before your session.
Yes — all images come with full print licence included in every package. Pre-wedding shoot photographs are perfect for save the dates, invitations, order of service covers, and wedding websites. I can prioritise delivery to meet your stationery timeline if you book with sufficient lead time.
