Elegant, relaxed family portrait photography at Ranelagh Gardens, Chelsea Physic Garden, the Royal Hospital grounds and the Thames Embankment. Chelsea's finest settings for timeless family portraits.
Chelsea & the Royal Borough
Chelsea is one of London's most beautiful and historically resonant neighbourhoods. From the Wren-designed Royal Hospital to the ancient walled garden of the Chelsea Physic Garden; from the Georgian terraces of Cheyne Walk to the ornate bridge crossings of the Thames — everything in Chelsea speaks to permanence, care and intention. It is a place that has always been inhabited by people who understood beauty.
Families who choose to live in Chelsea tend to share those values. They invest in their environments. They choose quality over quantity. They take their children to the farmers' market and the physic garden and the river walk, and they understand that the time their family spends together in these places is something worth preserving properly.
I bring a fine-art documentary approach to Chelsea family photography — technically precise, editorially composed, but never cold or performative. My sessions are relaxed. Children play; parents talk to each other; grandparents settle into the garden bench. I photograph what I observe, and what I observe in Chelsea families is consistently beautiful.
Sessions can be arranged at any of Chelsea's extraordinary garden and riverside locations, or within your home. I cover the full Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, as well as neighbouring Fulham, Hammersmith and Battersea in Wandsworth.
Where We Photograph
The beautiful gardens that adjoin the Royal Hospital Chelsea — landscaped pleasure grounds dating from 1742, now Chelsea's most serene green space. The broad avenue of plane trees, the ornamental pond and the historic bandstand provide exceptional portrait variety.
Founded in 1673, London's oldest botanical garden contains over 5,000 medicinal and pharmaceutically significant plants in a beautifully maintained walled garden. Photography sessions within the Physic Garden require a visitor admission or event arrangement — worth every penny for its extraordinary floral richness.
The public grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea — home of the Chelsea Pensioners — offer beautifully maintained formal lawns, historic Wren architecture and the magnificent riverside walk along the Thames Embankment. Particularly atmospheric in late afternoon light.
The ornate Albert Bridge (1873) is one of London's most romantically photogenic structures, particularly at dusk when it is illuminated. The Thames Embankment walk between Albert Bridge and Battersea Bridge creates a riverside composition of extraordinary elegance.
Chelsea's elegant village centre provides a refined urban backdrop — the gardens of Sloane Square, the period architecture of Sloane Street and the quiet residential squares of the Royal Borough combine village character with Edwardian grandeur.
Chelsea's Georgian and Victorian terraces — particularly those with south-facing gardens or large bay windows — are exceptional for in-home family sessions. The quality of light in Chelsea homes, combined with the character of the architecture, creates images of genuine warmth and distinction.
