Lincoln has one of the most architecturally dramatic settings in England — the medieval hilltop quarter with its Gothic Cathedral and Norman Castle, their warm limestone glowing in afternoon light. As a backdrop for maternity photography, this combination of ancient stone architecture and open skies over the city is quite unlike anywhere else.
Away from the medieval heart, Hartsholme Country Park's Victorian parkland, the National Trust deer park at Belton House near Grantham, and the gentle chalk hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB provide very different but equally beautiful settings for outdoor bump portraits. I work across Lincoln and Lincolnshire throughout the year, matching each session to the season and the light.

When is the best time for a maternity session in Lincoln?
Between 28 and 34 weeks is ideal. The bump is beautifully defined and you are still comfortable walking between locations. Lincoln's Cathedral grounds look magnificent year-round; spring brings blossom and fresh greenery, summer provides lush parkland, and autumn offers warm golden tones in Hartsholme and Belton's deer park.
Can we photograph at the Cathedral for a maternity session?
The Cathedral grounds and the medieval streets around the Cathedral and Castle are wonderful settings for maternity portraits. The golden limestone architecture of Lincoln Cathedral provides a dramatic and beautiful backdrop unlike anywhere else in England.
What is Belton House like for maternity photography?
Belton House is a Restoration-era National Trust country house near Grantham with extensive formal gardens, a deer park, and beautiful woodland. The formal orange tree garden and the broad grass avenues are particularly good portrait settings. Sessions here have an elegant, timeless quality.
