Cambridgeshire Fens
The Capital of the Fens — Peckover House, Georgian North Brink, and blossom orchards. Weddings, families and portraits across north Cambridgeshire.
Wisbech Photography
Wisbech is the largest town in the north Cambridgeshire Fens and one of England's most architecturally distinguished provincial towns. The Georgian North Brink — an unaltered terrace of 18th-century merchants' houses along the north bank of the Nene, including Peckover House — is one of the finest Georgian streetscapes in England and provides portrait settings of genuine architectural distinction. I photograph weddings, families, and portrait commissions across Wisbech and the surrounding Fenland area, working with the town's exceptional built character and the wide, flat landscape of the fens beyond.
Peckover House — a National Trust property dating from the 1720s, with one of the finest small formal gardens in the east of England behind its plain red-brick facade — provides Wisbech's most intimate and refined portrait setting. The walled garden, with its croquet lawn, herbaceous double borders, and Victorian orangery and fernery, photographs beautifully throughout the year: rose season in June and July is particularly fine; the winter garden in frost and silence has a quality of its own.
Beyond the town, the Fenland orchard landscape to the south and west — vast commercial apple, pear and plum orchards in the Ouse and Nene catchment — is spectacular in late April during blossom season. I offer dedicated orchard blossom family sessions during this short window each year, booked in advance — the combination of the big Fen sky, the white and pink blossom, and the flat, light-filled Fenland landscape gives family photographs a genuinely unusual and beautiful quality.

Local Settings
A late-18th-century merchant's house on North Brink with one of the finest small walled gardens in England — herbaceous borders, roses, and Victorian glasshouses providing intimate portrait settings.
The unaltered Georgian terrace along the north bank of the Nene is one of the finest streetscapes in the Fens — clean red-brick frontages and the river walk provide architectural portrait opportunities.
The commercial apple and pear orchards of the south Lincolnshire and north Cambridgeshire fens are spectacular in late April — blossom sessions in the orchards give a uniquely Fenland family portrait.
The tidal Nene through Wisbech — with its large commercial vessels, swing bridge, and tree-lined bank — gives an unusual riverside setting quite unlike the chalk-stream rivers of south Cambridgeshire.
Wisbech Locations
Common Questions
Peckover House and Garden is the outstanding location for formal portrait and wedding sessions — the National Trust walled garden, just off North Brink, is one of the finest in the region and photographs beautifully in every season. For family documentary sessions, the Nene riverside and the orchard farmland south and west of the town give natural, open-sky settings characteristic of the Fens.
Yes — I cover Wisbech and the surrounding Fenland area for weddings. Wisbech has several historic and contemporary venues; the combination of the Georgian townscape and the Fenland countryside gives wedding photography a distinctive character that is quite different from the river-valley and chalk-land settings of south Cambridgeshire.
Yes — the blossom season in the Fenland orchards around Wisbech typically occurs in late April and is spectacular. I offer advance-booked blossom sessions in the orchards during this period; these need to be booked ahead as the blossom window is only 2–3 weeks. Please enquire as early as possible if this interests you.
Wisbech is approximately 35 miles north-east of Cambridge. I cover Wisbech and the north Cambridgeshire Fens as an extended service area; a standard mileage supplement applies for most Wisbech bookings. Please enquire and I will confirm pricing when you contact me.
