Screw tradition. DIY ethos, Camden character, railway arches, and weddings where convention is not just broken but actively dismantled.
Punk weddings have a specific character: they are deliberately anti-spectacular, they are DIY, they are about the people in the room rather than the performance. The aesthetic follows — safety pins repurposed as brooches, ripped lace, mohawks and shaved heads, band tees replacing morning suits, ceremonies that are funny and honest and completely devoid of pomp.
London is the right city for this. Camden has been doing it for fifty years. But it's also Hackney record shops, Brixton arts spaces, East London railway arches, and the wonderfully non-wedding character of dozens of London pub venues that don't know they're wedding venues but are actually perfect for it.
I approach punk weddings the way I approach everything: honestly, without manufacturing anything, with an eye for the genuine moments that convention tries to script away.
