Brampton Mill, St Mary Magdalene, and the Great Ouse — natural documentary wedding photography on the water's edge near Huntingdon.
Brampton Wedding Photography
Brampton is a village on the Great Ouse immediately south-west of Huntingdon — home to one of Huntingdonshire's most distinctive wedding venues in Brampton Mill, a historic watermill on the river with beautifully kept riverside grounds and intimate, characterful interior spaces. The combination of the mill's waterside setting, the adjacent river meadows, and the nearby countryside provides wedding photography with a consistent and beautiful variety of backdrops throughout a full wedding day.
The Samuel Pepys family connection to Brampton — the famous diarist's parents lived in the village — adds a further layer of historical character to a place already distinguished by its church, its riverside setting, and its proximity to the open countryside of the Ouse Valley. For couples who want wedding photography that is genuinely natural, unobtrusive, and grounded in real moments rather than staged poses, Brampton's relaxed, village-and-riverside character gives me everything I need to work well throughout the day.
I offer full-day documentary coverage for Brampton weddings, working quietly through the day from preparation to reception. Engagement sessions at Grafham Water or the Ouse meadows are available as part of full-day packages — they're an excellent way to establish a relaxed working rhythm before the wedding day itself.

The historic watermill on the Great Ouse at Brampton — now a popular wedding venue — combines riverside setting, classic mill architecture, and beautifully kept grounds. One of the most characterful wedding locations in Huntingdonshire.
Brampton's medieval parish church — with its ancient tower and characterful churchyard — is a fine setting for church wedding ceremonies and formal portrait sequences.
The Great Ouse flows along the edge of Brampton with water meadows, towpaths, and willow-banked stretches giving beautiful natural wedding portrait backgrounds throughout the year.
One of England's largest reservoirs, just five minutes from Brampton — the open water, big sky, and woodland shores create dramatic couple portrait settings, particularly at golden hour.

Common Questions
Brampton Mill is one of Huntingdonshire's most charming waterside wedding venues — the riverside setting, the mill architecture, and the intimate scale make it ideal for weddings of up to around 100 guests. The combination of indoor spaces and the riverside garden gives wedding photography a consistent variety of backdrops throughout the day. I have photographed at Brampton Mill and am very familiar with its spaces and light throughout the year.
Brampton is a village immediately south-west of Huntingdon — effectively adjoining the town on the far bank of the Ouse. It's approximately 20 miles north-west of Cambridge and 15 miles south of Peterborough. The village is easily accessible from the A1/A14 corridor. I cover Brampton and the wider Huntingdon area as part of my standard Cambridgeshire coverage.
Brampton Mill's riverside and garden give the strongest on-venue portraits. For post-ceremony portraits, the Great Ouse meadows adjacent to the mill give classic pastoral water-meadow backgrounds. Grafham Water, five minutes away, gives dramatic large-scale landscape shots at golden hour. And the village church of St Mary Magdalene provides a traditional church portrait setting if your ceremony is there.
Yes — I offer full-day documentary wedding coverage from preparation through to the first dance and beyond. My approach is genuinely unobtrusive: I document the day as it unfolds, spending no more than 20–30 minutes on formal group photographs, and focusing the rest of the day on real moments. Please enquire about my packages for Brampton and Huntingdonshire weddings.
Yes — Grafham Water is one of my favourite pre-wedding and engagement session locations near Huntingdon. The open water, the woodland shores, and the extraordinary evening light at the reservoir give couple portraits a genuinely beautiful quality. I offer 90-minute golden-hour engagement sessions that serve as both a portfolio build and a chance to get used to working together before the wedding day.
